The Case:

Ileana Mirea is a 65-year-old woman from the village of Brabeti. Five years ago her husband had passed away. While he was still alive, he had told her again and again that he would become a "strigoi". As soon as her husband was dead the woman became seriously ill. So one of her neighbours went and put a stake through the heart of the dead man. After this, the woman soon recovered.

We also learn from this article that - according to another of the local women - Brabeti is well-known for its Strigoii. There have been dozens of cases over the years.

The Date:

The case is said to have happened 5 years before 2011, which puts it in 2006.

The Place:

As could almost have been expected Brabeti can be found in Romania's main vampire region (and I don't mean Transylvania), South, slightly to the East, of Craiova, about halfway to the Bulgarian border.
